Business Insider welcomes Amanda Hoover as a senior correspondent covering the technology industry for the newsroom's discourse team, a dedicated group of Business Insider journalists who write thought-provoking perspectives informed by analysis, reporting and expertise on today's biggest issues.
Hoover joins Business Insider from Wired, where she had an impressive record of distinctive reporting on major companies — Airbnb, WeWork, and Spotify in particular — and providing interesting insights on labor trends across Silicon Valley. Her technology expertise complements the company's return to Business Insider and its renewed focus on business, technology, and innovation.
"Amanda is both a reporter's reporter and a writer's writer," said deputy editor Zak Jason. "If you want can't-miss, rollicking distillations of the most important and fascinating power plays and ideas in the tech world — if you want to sound smarter in your group chat and your Slack channels — you're going to be reading her work regularly. We couldn't be more excited to have her join the team."
Hoover is the latest hire to Business Insider's award-winning Discourse team, run by editor, Eric Bates. In January, Emily Stewart, who was most recently at Vox, also joined as a senior correspondent, who has has quickly become a leading voice on trends in business and economy — from the fall of Red Lobster to Gen Z redefining sick days.
