Business Insider welcomes Pranav Dixit as a correspondent covering Meta, its AI ambitions, and Mark Zuckerberg for the Big Tech team run by deputy editor Monica Melton. Pranav joins a group of reporters covering the world's largest tech companies including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia, with a focus on how changes at these companies impact workforces, users, and the wider business landscape.

Pranav comes to Business Insider from Engadget where he was a senior editor running breaking news coverage. Previously, he served as the India-based technology correspondent for BuzzFeed News, covering the impact of Silicon Valley's largest companies on the culture, society, and politics of more than a billion people in South Asia. He also ran technology coverage at the Hindustan Times, one of India's largest national newspapers.

In 2019, Pranav won Syracuse University's Mirror Award for a boots-on-the-ground feature about how WhatsApp misinformation sparked gruesome lynchings in rural India. His reporting drew international attention and sparked widespread conversations about the impact of American technology companies around the world.

Pranav moved to the United States in 2021 from New Delhi to be a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University's Nieman Foundation for Journalism. There he studied the evolution of the American tech press and ways newsrooms around the world can cover technology and society more effectively. He has a master's degree in magazine journalism from New York University.

"We are thrilled to have Pranav covering Meta," Melton said. "His approach to unearthing stories about the social media giant demonstrates the impact of its technology on society, culture, politics, and businesses."

With over a decade of experience spanning both the US and international markets, Pranav brings deep expertise to Business Insider's Meta coverage. He has already broken key stories, including exclusive details about an emergency meeting of Meta's fact-checking partners, and the company's internal plans for performance-based layoffs.
