DirecTV Stream has entered the sports live streaming bundle market with a brand-new MySports package, MySportsbeta, which offers a channel lineup made exclusively of sports networks. The streaming package, which is available in beta with a discounted introductory offer for a limited time only, costs less than DirecTV Stream's cheapest plan.

The plan combines sports networks found in DirecTV Stream's base Entertainment plan, like ESPN and TNT, with those you normally only see in the service's more expensive tiers or Sports Pack add-on, like the ACC Network, SEC Network, and truTV. MySports is significantly cheaper than other tiers of DirecTV Stream.

The cheapest plan, the aforementioned Entertainment tier, costs $86.99/month, and the common Sports Pack add-on is another $14.99/month. In contrast, MySports costs $69.99/month. Users can get their first three months for $49.99/month, knocking off about 29% — $60 in total savings.

MySports offers 25+ live channels in select regions, although some areas can get up to 40. DirecTV notes that some channels are subject to market-by-market availability. When initially checking through the service's channel lineup guide, local channels (ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC) appear to be missing in some regions, while they're still listed as available with the other, more expensive plans. However, the FOX coverage has become widespread and is available in every market where you can get DirecTV.

The skinny sports package was initially launched in January in 24 major metro markets, but it quickly expanded by more than 100 cities. MySports — and its FOX coverage — is now available in every top 50 market, just in time for the Super Bowl. The special discounted introductory offer lasts until February 28, 2025, includes a five-day free trial for new users, and offers unlimited cloud DVR recordings.

FAQ

What channels are available in MySports?

The exact channel lineup varies depending on your region, but MySports has most of the basics. You can check out the channel lineup guide for a breakdown of what's available in your area, but most MySports subscriptions come with the ACC Network, the Big Ten Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, FS1, FS2, the Golf Channel, MLB Network, NBA TV, the NFL Network, the NHL Network, the SEC Network, TBS, TNT, truTV, and USA, among others.

A few non-sports channels appear to have also made the cut, at least in some regions. CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox Business Network, and Fox News are listed as available in some areas, but you should consult the channel lineup to see if that's also the case in your zip code.

MySports is still missing a few sports-friendly channels available in other DirecTV Stream packages, like ION and the Tennis Channel. As mentioned above, local channel availability seems to be the greatest sticking point. For example, in Boston, only NBC and FOX are available (while CBS and ABC aren't). In New York, ABC, FOX, and NBC are available, but CBS is missing. Local channels play a key role in many leagues, including the NFL, WNBA, and some major college sporting events. Regional sports networks, which are available with DirecTV Stream's Choice plan and above, are also missing from the lineup.

What other DirecTV Stream plans are there?

If missing local channels are a dealbreaker or you're looking for a true cable alternative, DirecTV Stream's Entertainment, Choice, and Ultimate plans might be the right pick for you. Entertainment plans cost $86.99/month, Choice plans cost $114.99/month, and Ultimate plans cost $129.99/month. Most plans have an introductory discount and all subscriptions come with a five-day free trial for new customers. Are there DirecTV Stream alternatives?

Fubo and Sling TV are two of the live TV streaming options we most often compare to DirecTV Stream. Fubo plans start at $79.99/month, and Sling TV starting prices range from $45.99/month to $60.99/month.

If you're interested in MySports because it's a cheaper option, you might also like the Sling TV Orange + Blue bundle, which is even less expensive and has similar offerings. The live TV streaming service, which costs $60.99/month (or $65.99 in select regions), isn't specifically pegged to sports. However, it includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, TNT, TBS, FS1, the NFL Network, and many other popular networks in its 40+ channel lineup (including select local channels similar to the MySports offering). You'll need to pay extra for things like NBA TV or the ACC, SEC, and MLB Networks, but Sling Orange + Blue also offers popular lifestyle, entertainment, and news channels in its base lineup.
