After a nearly three-year-long hiatus, Severance is finally back for a new season. We've compiled everything you need to know about the show's return, including where to watch Severance, what time you can expect episodes to drop, and a look at the new trailer.

Severance follows the employees at Lumon Industries, a biotech company, who undergo a "severance" procedure in order to work there, a brain chip that functions a bit like a hyper-evolved NDA. Severance creates two versions of a person, cleaving a second consciousness and a set of memories that only knows its work life. This way, people don't bring their work (and its secrets) home with them. Of course, it also means that some people never get to leave the office. This might sound a bit complicated, but the show has become must-see mystery-box TV with notes of ABC's Lost, HBO's Westworld, and Prime Video's Homecoming.

Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette lead the all-star cast, with a few exciting guest stars slated to pop in for Season 2. The series, which aired its first season in 2022, comes from Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller.

Below, we've outlined everything you need to know about Severance Season 2. The season will last 10 episodes, one more than the first, so you can expect new episodes until March 21 (or a little before if the current release schedule keeps up).

Where to watch Severance in the US

Severance streams on Apple TV Plus in the US. Season 1 is available to stream in full, and new episodes from Season 2 drop weekly. Apple TV Plus subscriptions cost $10/month after a seven-day free trial. The service offers a wealth of Apple originals, including several shows in the same prestige sci-fi vein as Severance, like For All Mankind and Silo.

Severance Season 2 trailer

Apple TV Plus dropped a full trailer for Season 2 in December 2024. In it, Mark, Helly, Dylan, and Irving face the surprising repercussions of their Season 1 finale actions. Outtie Mark also contends with what he (and his sister) have learned, and we get a brief glimpse of Helena. Check out the full video below:

When do new episodes drop?

Technically, new episodes drop on Fridays, which usually means around midnight on Apple TV Plus. The Season 2 premiere was scheduled for Friday, January 17. However, the first episode dropped the night before on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. We noticed that the second episode also dropped the Thursday before its scheduled release so, while there's no telling if the rest of the season will follow suit, superfans might want to check Apple TV Plus on Thursday nights to see if they can get an early look.
